Article: 'My Family'

My old man is a delivery driver who drives for a living. He leaves early for work so that he is able to get to the sorting yard to pick up his deliveries for the day ahead. He spends the day in the van, travelling from location to location dropping off parcels and important letters to companies who need them.

He will often not get back until after dark, rarely early enough to put me to bed. This makes me look forward to weekends all the more! I get to spend the whole day with him. He will often take me out in his car at the weekend, driving fast along country roads. I can not wait to be able to drive just like him.

I am not sure that I want to do the same job as him, just because it keeps him away from home so much of the time. Mum says that she misses him too and that she will have time to catch up with him when he retires. I am not sure if she is joking when she says that or not!

Mum spends most of her time looking after my little brother. He is 3 and needs lots of attention to stop him from getting into trouble. He is always crashing his toy cars into the skirting boards. Mum says that when he is older he will have to repaint them himself. Again I am not sure if she is joking or not.

Both my grandparents are still alive (some of my friends do not still have one or both). My granddad has a great sense of humour, which is where I think my mum gets hers from, and is always playing funny tricks on me.

I love my family.
